Bringing together local trail users to support and improve trails and trail systems

MLTS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, advocacy and action association.  Our mission is to create, enhance, promote and preserve trails and trail experiences for all recreational users in and around El Dorado County, and to create a trail-friendly community through awareness, safety, and advocacy.

Welcome to MLTS

Mother Lode Trail Stewardship (MLTS) was formed in 2020 by a group of passionate trail users who saw a need to galvanize the trail community in El Dorado County. Our desire is to see a flourishing trail community that is engaged in making a difference in our communities along the western slope of the County from Echo Summit to El Dorado Hills. Our mission is pretty simple, we want to create, enhance, preserve and promote trails and trail use in this region and we are open to all trail users.

Why volunteer with us?

Boost your Fitness

We believe that hiking, biking, horseback riding and trail maintenance are all high quality outdoor activities that improve your overall fitness and wellbeing.

Community Support

Few counties can rival El Dorado in the amount and diversity of landscapes so readily accessible and we want to share it so that El Dorado County becomes a premier destination for mountain bikers, hikers, equestrians and off-roaders
from all over the country.

Strength in numbers

To accomplish our goals we need members, and member participation. The more people who show up for a group ride the more fun we have, the more who show up on a workday the faster things get done and lastly the more people who show up at community events demonstrate our commitment to the trails!
